Biomega Bamboo

Bamboo bicycle for Biomega, Denmark 1997-2001. Tunes of different materials – steel and aluminium, to composites and polymer pultrusions and bamboo - are all connected by a system of forged joints, combining a traditional diamond geometry with a new aesthetic rational. The system is flexible and economic and the bamboo version in this family was developed to demonstrate the limits of the tube system and to explore the use of organic sustainable materials. All bicycles are fitted with a unique patented folding handlebar system designed and developed by Ross Lovegrove that allows the bicycles to be hung flush on the wall to save valuable space and to be stored at home.
